Manchester City confident of Alexis signing

The Citizens are increasingly confident that Alexis Sanchez will join the Etihad this summer, despite the Gunners reluctance to sell.

The Chilean’s desire to play under Pep Guardiola once again is thought to be a decisive factor that will ultimately see Sanchez join Manchester City.

If Wenger fails to sanction a sale this summer, Arsenal could face losing Sanchez on a free transfer when his contract expires in 12 months, and they could lose a fee in the region of £50 million.

Sanchez is yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates, though he has been offered around £250,000 a week. The Citizens, however, are prepared to offer the 28-year-old closer to £300,000 a week.

Arsenal would rather not send their star striker to a Premier League rival, so if Alexis does force his way out, PSG or Bayern Munich are thought to be the preferred destination for the Chile international.

The Gunners have begun their attempts to strengthen their forward line, after having their bid for Monaco’s Lemar turned down.

At Barcelona, Guardiola signed Alexis from Udinese back in 2011, and the Citizens believe that it is the forward’s wish to be reunited with the Spaniard.
