- Juan Mata greeted Alex Nield as Manchester United boarded the bus
- The pair spoke and hugged as the supporters’ father took a picture
- Mata spoke briefly to the dad before sprinting back to the team bus
Juan Mata is one of football’s nice guys and enhanced that image by surprising a young disabled fan outside Old Trafford.
The clip shows the midfielder bypassing security to get to the excited supporter, who holds his arms out in visible excitement.
Despite being in a rush to board the team bus, the Manchester United man hugs the youngster who has been named as Alex Nield and poses for a photo.
The humble act has been doing the rounds on social media and the following message along with the video was posted on Facebook.
‘Late afternoon Saturday 1st October 2016….
Alex Nield meeting up with Juan Mata where players assemble for their Team Coach trip to the Lowry…it was fantastic that Juan Mata recognised Alex and came over to meet him….Alex also got some good news re game tomorrow v Stoke…..JUAN MATA IS A CLASS ACT..’
With Jose Mourinho arriving in the summer, there were many who thought Mata would leave, but he has started five of their seven Premier League games, and managed two goals and one assist in that time.
Mata could not help side side claim all three points at home to Stoke on Sunday as they shared the spoils against the Premier League strugglers.
Substitute Anthony Martial opened the scoring in the second half before Joe Allen levelled the scoreline with eight minutes left on the clock.
