Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes this summer, according to Spanish publication Sport.
The Argentine manager is keen to add to his midfield in the summer and he Gomes is a player he considers suitable for the Premier League.
The Portuguese international has endured a torrid time at the Nou Camp since moving there from Valencia back in 2016 and he is ready to leave the club when the summer window opens.
Gomes was one of the hottest talents in Spain during his time at Valencia, generating a huge amount of interest amongst Europe’s elite in gaining his signature.
With legendary midfielder Andres Iniesta entering the final years of his career, Barcelona were keen on signing a replacement with the Portuguese international being brought in to replace him.
However, having accumulated a combined total of just seven goals and assists over two seasons, the midfielder has swiftly fallen out of favour at the Nou Camp.
Both Tottenham and West Ham United are looking to take the midfielder away from Barcelona this summer, with the Hammers having already made an offer for the player.
Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, is keen on signing the 24-year-old despite his poor form at Barcelona over the last two seasons.
Tottenham have so far enjoyed a thoroughly successful league campaign this year having taken 30 points – more than any other side.
Ten points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea, level on points and a game in hand over Liverpool and with an FA Cup semi-final on the horizon, there is much cause for optimism at Spurs.
Last weekend, City blew the chance to secure the title in historic fashion as they let slip a two-goal lead allowing bitter rivals Manchester United to come from behind to win 3-2 at the Etihad.
City must wait until Sunday when United host West Bromwich Albion to discover whether a win at Wembley will seal them the title, having had their gap at the top reduced to 13 points.
The Sky Blues also saw their European hopes go up in smoke as Liverpool ran riot over two-legs to humiliate them 5-1 on aggregate.
