Marcus Rashford may have grown up in awe of Cristiano Ronaldo during his six-year stay at Manchester United, but the former believes Lionel Messi is the greatest to ever play football.
The Ronaldo vs Messi debate has been non-stop for more than a decade as the duo keep setting unprecedented heights.
And Rashford has provided his opinion as to who he thinks is the best.
“I have to say [Lionel] Messi – some of the stuff that he does is unbelievable,” he told CNN.
“I’m a big fan of [Cristiano] Ronaldo as well but I think Messi is the greatest ever.”
The news may come as a shock to Ronaldo, considering his apparent rapport with the young England international.
The duo have shown their appreciation of each other by taking to Instagram in the past – with Ronaldo having signed and sent clothes and shoes to Rashford.
Ronaldo’s former team-mate at United, Wayne Rooney is someone else that Rashford admires – hailing him as the best player he’s played alongside.
“Wayne Rooney is the best player I’ve ever played with,” he added unequivocally. ‘A legend.’
The duo played for one and a half seasons together at Old Trafford, following Rashford’s breakthrough in 2016, winning the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and the Community Shield in that short time.
