Messi overtakes Salah in Golden Shoe race

Mohamed Salah’s lead has been demolished in the battle for the Golden Shoe after Lionel Messi notched a hat-trick against Deportivo La Coruna.

With the Liverpool ace on 31, the Argentinian forward scored his 30th league goal of the season in the first half when combining well with Luis Suarez, and interplay with the same teammate on 81 minutes saw him draw level with Salah.

Within moments, the almost inevitable hat-trick was rolled in by the forward, assisted yet again by Suarez.

It seems that the race is now just between these two after Ciro Immobile picked up an injury on Sunday which could rule him out for the rest of the season, stuck on 29 league goals.

The Lazio ace suffered a muscle strain just 15 minutes into the fixture with Torino.

Robert Lewandowski and Mauro Icardi are also in the running on 28 and 27 goals, respectively.
