Messi pleads patience for Suarez

Lionel Messi has reportedly asked Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde to stick with misfiring striker Luis Suarez.

Suarez has enjoyed a superb stint with the Catalans scoring 124 goals from 161 appearances in all competitions since moving to Camp Nou from Liverpool in 2014.

However, he has failed to hit the heights so far this season, with just three goals from 14 outings and there have been calls to bench the Uruguay international.

Paco Alcacer scored both goals as Barca beat Sevilla 2-1 on Saturday and rumours persist that the boss might stick with the Spain intentional.

But Spanish website Diario Gol claim Messi feels it would be beneficial to keep Suarez in the starting XI as his class will eventually shine through, and does not want to him to be sidelined from the first-team picture.
