Mesut Ozil could leave Arsenal for dream return to Real Madrid

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is on the record that contract talks between the club and Mesut Ozil are set to begin. But German outlet Bild says not so fast, Arsene.

Ozil apparently has two prerequisites before signing a new deal, which reportedly could be worth a club-record £200,000 a week. First, the Germany international wants the No. 10 jersey vacated by Jack Wilshere’s loan move to Bournemouth.

Second, he wants guarantees from the club that they are committed to being a world-class side by bringing in other big-name stars in upcoming transfer windows. This summer saw the arrival of Granit Xhaka and Ozil’s Germany teammate Shkodran Mustafi.

And what if the Gunners rebuke Ozil’s demands? Then the 28-year-old will take his boots and make a dream return to the Bernabeu, says Bild.

Ozil is said to be a big admirer of Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and the project he has going on in the capital. However, fan favourite Ozil is also thought to be very happy at Arsenal and, if said stipulations could be met, an extension beyond his current deal that runs until 2018 may yet be in the cards.
