Midfielder Mikel Agu has been ruled out of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria on Friday.
Reports from Rabat, Morocco, where Nigeria are camped for the formality match says the Bursaspor of Turkey player was injured and consequently would not feature against the Desert Foxes in Constantine on Friday.
Agu will also not be part of the Nigeria team that will face Argentina in a friendly match to be played in Russia on November 14.
Meanwhile Nigeria have continued preparation in earnest for Friday’s match with the players being subjected to rigorous training by the technical crew, led by Gernot Rohr. Fitness coach Jean Luc Roger and the goalkeeper coaches Alloy Agu and Enrico Pionetti have been bust getting the players in shape for riday’s match.
Nigeria will today have a feel of the Mohamed-Hamlaoui Stadium Constantine, venue of the match, just as Rohr will address the press on the match this evening at the stadium.
During his own press briefing on Wednesday, Algeria coach, Rabah Madjer, said his goal was to beat Nigeria for his tean to regain confidence and return to the path of victory.
Speaking at the Omar-Kezzal Amphitheater of the Sidi Moussa National Technical Center in Algiers, Madjer said the rebuilding process of the Desert Foxes would begin after the World Cup qualifier against Nigeria and the international friendly against the Central African Republic.
He added that with the rebuilding process activated, their target would be qualifying for the 2019 African Cup of Nations and going as far as possible in the biennial African football showcase.
