Mikel beats rohr’s deadline

The Super Eagles training camp in Uyo is now bubbling ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Zambia as skipper Mikel Obi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and 19 other players have now reported.

The others in Uyo are Elderson Echiejile, Odion Ighalo, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi, Mikel Agu, John Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Anthony Nwakaeme, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Dele Ajiboye as well as two standby players, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Afeez Aremu both of Akwa United.

The rest of the squad are Daniel Akpeyi, Uche Agbo, Ogenyi Onazi, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Ola Aina and Chidozie Awaziem.

The first training was open to the public on Tuesday, but officials said the sessions today and tomorrow will be closed.

A win for Nigeria will qualify them to next year’s World Cup in Russia.

They lead Group B with 10 points from 10 matches, while Zambia have seven points.

Cameroon have three points and Algeria are on a point as both are no longer in contention for the ticket to the World Cup.
