John Mikel Obi graced the pitch for the first time in a Tianjin TEDA shirt as the midfielder played in a friendly match for the Chinese Super League club.
Mikel took to Instagram on Wednesday to post a picture of himself posing with his new team-mates in the heat as the Chinese side played Borussia Monchengladbach II.
The former Chelsea midfielder captioned the post: ‘First friendly game with the team #TianjinTEDA.’
The Nigerian star has become the latest ex-Premier League player to ply his trade in China, with Sportsmail reporting that he had been offered a package worth around £140,000 per week at his new club.
Mikel has signed a three-year deal with Tianjin TEDA, after enjoying a successful 11-year career at Stamford Bridge.
The 29-year-old, who followed former team-mate Oscar to China, won the Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his time at Chelsea.
Following his departure from the current Premier League leaders, Mikel penned an open letter to Chelsea fans in which he said it has ‘truly been an honour’ to play for the club.
In an open letter shared on his Twitter account, Mikel shared memories of his greatest achievements during his years at Stamford Bridge.
