After falling short of expectation in his second coming to Sai Masu Gida, the coach has decided to throw in the towel
Mohammed Babaganaru has resigned his appointment as Kano Pillars coach on Sunday evening shortly after Pillars 1-1 home draw with Niger Tornadoes in their final match of the league season played at the Sani Abacha Stadium .
It was a sad end to Babaganaru’s second coming to Pillars which started during the mid season of last season after he ditched Nasarawa United to return to his beloved Kano side.
Babaganaru and Pillars whose romance had high expectations after he won the league title back to back with the club before he dumped the club for the Lafia side at the start of last season. Pillars had to pay a specific fine to Nasarawa United who dragged them before the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the League Management Company (LMC) for illegal poaching.
Pillars ended the season with 52 points from 36 matches and thus finished the campaign seventh on the log including 14 defeats in the just concluded season.
“Coach Babaganaru has resigned as head coach of Kano Pillars FC. He announced this immediately after Pillars draw with Niger Tornadoes. We wish him the very best in his future plans,” media officer Idris Malikawa told Goal.
Under Babaganaru, Pillars became fearsome in the local league but they remained in the backseat on the continent and failed to progress to the group stage of the Caf Champions League from 2013 to 2015.
