Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has vowed to give Alvaro Morata more playing time after his match-winning efforts against Athletic Bilbao.
Morata’s 83rd minute strike gave the Blancos a 2-1 lead, after Karim Benzema’s opener was cancelled out by Sabin Merino.
Following the result, Zidane praised the Spaniard for his 16 minute cameo.
“Morata will get more playing time, but we have to be patient,” he said as reported by FourFourTwo.
“We have to keep working together and Morata will get minutes like everyone else.
“Morata and Lucas [Vazquez] are doing very well. They always play well when they come on.
“Both will start games this season, but it is not easy.”
Zidane has predicted a tight La Liga battle this season, with Madrid’s win handing them a one point lead over second placed Sevilla.
“It will be close at the top all season,” the coach added.
“There are no easy games and we will suffer until the end.
“I am very happy that we sit atop the table, but above all I am happy with our performance. We suffered a bit, but that is only normal and we kept fighting right until the very end.”
Real travel to Cultural Leonesa in the Copa del Rey this week, before facing Deportivo Alavés on Sunday.
