Moses is Nigerian, not English •Fans rap Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp’s attempt at paying Victor Moses a compliment has backfired after he mistakenly identified the Chelsea wide man as a ‘young English talent’.

Moses is in fact a 25-year-old with 24 caps for the Nigerian national team which of course makes him ineligible to play for the Three Lions side.

Almost immediately after Redknapp uttered the phrase during the Sky Sports pre-game broadcast, people on social media were not only pointing out his mistake but giving him plenty of stick for it.

Here are some of the reactions

Jamie Redknapp on Victor Moses: “It’s nice to see a young English talent getting a chance”.

Moses has 24 caps for Nigeria and is nearly 26.

In Redknapp’s defence however, Moses did represent England in under 16, under 17, under 19 and under 21 levels, registering 29 total caps and scoring 11 times before switching his allegiance to Nigeria at senior level.

Moses started and played 87 minutes in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory at Southampton on Sunday evening.
