Senator Olamilekan Adeola has described the National Sports Festival (NSF), as a celebration of Nigeria’s unity, diversity and youthful talent.
The lawmaker, representing Ogun West in the National Assembly, said this in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, on Saturday.
Adeola who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, extended a warm welcome to all athletes, officials and sports enthusiasts to Ogun, the Gateway State for the national event.
He noted that the event provides a valuable opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills, build lasting friendships, and inspire a new generation of champions.
The senator commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for its outstanding efforts in preparing Ogun State to host what he termed “a world-class sports festival.”
He praised the significant infrastructural upgrades at the MKO Abiola International Stadium and other key facilities, describing them as a reflection of the governor’s commitment to youth development, tourism, and economic growth.
“The Gateway Games 2024 is a clear demonstration of what visionary and purposeful leadership can achieve. Ogun State is once again taking the lead, thanks to the transformational strides of Governor Dapo Abiodun,” Adeola stated.
He urged all athletes to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and integrity throughout the games and encouraged visitors to explore the culture, hospitality, and beauty that the Gateway State has to offer.
The senator expressed confidence that the festival would leave a lasting legacy for the state and the country as a whole.
