Bauchi State is participating in the North-East zonal elimination for team events in the National Youths Games with over 200-man contingent holding in Jalingo, Taraba state capital.
The states sports council stated that the contingents would compete in eight different team games including
football, basketball, handball, volleyball, rugby, beach volleyball, cricket and abula.
By the guidelines and rules of the National Youths Games, two teams from each team events will qualify from the zone.
Breakdown of contingent revealed that there are a total of 140 players, 24 technical staff, 8 medical staff, 5 sports writers, 6 security personnel, 9 state delegates, 8 referees, 18 drivers and 7 other staff making a total of 222 people.
Six states are expected to compete from qualifications from North-East states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Taraba and Yobe.
State Director of Sports, Usman Yusuf said that the state teams are fully prepared for the elimination games, expressing confidence that the state will clinch all the spots to enable it represent the zone af National Youths Games in Asaba, Delta State next month.
He also disclosed that before the departure for Taraba state, all members of the contingents, officials, technical and sports writers have been paid their allowances in the presence of the overseeing permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Nasiru Usman.
The elimination games will run from Wednesday, 28th August to Sunday, 1st September, 2024.
