NATIONS LEAGUE: Spain edges Italy 2-1 to set up Croatia final

Spain emerged victorious against Italy, securing a late triumph with Joselu’s decisive goal sending La Furia Roja to the Nations League final against Croatia on Sunday.

The opening goal for Spain was expertly struck by Yeremy Pino, who skillfully seized possession from veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci just outside his own penalty area. Italy managed to equalize through Ciro Immobile’s penalty, awarded after Spain debutant Robin le Normand handled the ball in the box.

However, substitute Joselu seized the opportunity, capitalizing on Rodri’s deflected shot from close range to propel Spain into the final in Rotterdam.

Midfielder Rodri, who played the full 90 minutes just five days after scoring the winning goal for Manchester City in the Champions League final, expressed the team’s focus on clinching the trophy, stating, “Now the most important thing is that we win this trophy.”

Spain’s last major title was the 2012 European Championship, and they are eager to end the trophy drought on Sunday night.

Following their defeat, Italy, will face the Netherlands in the Nations League third-placed play-off on Sunday.

Croatia, on the other hand, will be seeking their nation’s inaugural international trophy as they prepare to face Spain in the highly anticipated final.
