Ndidi set for full training

Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi is set to return to full training with Nigeria ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The 21-year old suffered a hamstring injury in the Foxes’ 5-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in April and didn’t take further part in the remaining fixtures.

It was feared that he may not able to gain full fitness in time for the world cup; however, his treatment has worked well, and he should now be ready to return to action.

Although he may still not be a part of his side in the friendlies in the build-up to Russia, Nigeria spokesman Toyin Ibitoye is not worried at all.

“In a couple of days, he will join the full training,” he said.

“He is running well without any pains, he has recovered faster than we expected.

“He is now being loaded slowly and gradually to build his match fitness.”

Ndidi has an extremely crucial period waiting for him, which he’d like to be prepared well for. The Leicester City man has already established himself as one of the best in his position in England, but now it’s time for him to take a step up and make himself be known around the world.

He won’t, however, be the only Leicester player to represent Nigeria this summer. Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho, who are both in the provisional squad, should also be featuring for the Super Eagles – and as key players, too.

Both the forwards had ordinary starts to the 2017/18 season, but as Musa was loaned out to CSKA Moscow, and Iheanacho regained his fitness, they were able to demonstrate why Leicester City paid big money to sign them.

The Nigerian trio would be joined by seven other Foxes in Russia.
