Nesta confirms Perugia role

Former Italy defender Alessandro Nesta has confirmed that he will take charge of Serie B side Perugia. “It’s been a while…”

Perugia surprisingly sacked Roberto Breda over the weekend, despite the Coach leading them to the promotion playoffs.

Replacing Breda will be Nesta, whose only prior coaching experience came at second-tier American club Miami FC.

“It’s been a while,” the ex-Milan and Lazio stopper told reporters.

“I don’t remember the last time I was at this stadium. I come here with great enthusiasm. This is a real football club.

“The team are strong and would be with me and any other Coach.”
