Newcastle United rout hapless Tottenham 6-1 in race for top 4

In a stunning display of football, Newcastle United crushed Tottenham Hotspur with a score of 6-1. The victory gave the team hope for Champions League qualification while pushing Tottenham’s own chances further away.

Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak each scored two goals, with Murphy striking early in the first minute of the match after Joelinton’s shot was deflected by Tottenham’s goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham’s performance was lackluster, as they failed to mount a response to Newcastle’s early goals. Joelinton scored a second goal in the fifth minute, rounding Lloris to score an easy goal. Murphy’s second goal came in the ninth minute, giving Newcastle a 3-0 lead.

Isak’s quick-fire double in the 19th and 21st minute put Newcastle in a commanding 5-0 lead. Lloris was substituted at half-time for Fraser Forster due to his poor performance.

In the second half, Tottenham’s Harry Kane scored a goal in the 62nd minute, but Callum Wilson quickly responded with a goal just one minute later, restoring Newcastle’s five-goal lead. Newcastle’s victory moves them six points ahead of Tottenham, with a game in hand.

Newcastle’s victory was a result of their clinical finishing and Tottenham’s poor defense. The team took advantage of Tottenham’s mistakes and scored early in the game, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Tottenham failed to capitalize on their chances and lacked creativity in the midfield.

Overall, Newcastle’s victory was well-deserved, as they played with intensity and purpose throughout the match. The team’s performance has given them hope for Champions League qualification, while Tottenham’s loss has put their own chances in jeopardy.
