Neymar has been ruled out for four weeks with a grade two hamstring strain according to French television channel TF1.
The 27-year-old begun his recovery in Paris on Monday after picking up the injury against Nigeria during international duty with Brazil.
The Paris Saint-Germain star posted a photo on Instagram of himself on a bed in Paris with the caption ‘recovery’.
Brazil national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar had initially said the 27-year-old did not have a serious injury.
Lasmar told Globo Esporte: “Worrying situation, of course. He did not cite very sharp pain.
“He felt discomfort. A slightly vague complaint. He asked to continue, but soon realized that it was not very normal and asked to leave to have no complication.
“The first evaluation is always for greater care, but you need the image (exam) to understand what happened, if it was just muscle fatigue or if you need more care.”
Neymar was replaced by midfielder Philippe Coutinho after feeling an injury in his left thigh. The match was 0-0 after 30 minutes.
The forward missed this year’s Copa America because of a right ankle injury. He only returned to action two months later.
The Brazilian also had a right foot injury in January playing for PSG. The problem in his fifth metatarsal that kept him off the pitch for almost three months.
