… as chairman promises to conduct best election
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, on Thursday, inaugurated the Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee.
These two bodies will conduct and adjudicate on complaints, petitions, and appeals regarding the elections to the NFF Executive Committee, which will run from 2026 to 2030.
Inaugurating the committees at Sunday Dankaro’s House, NFF Secretariat in Abuja, Gusau charged them to discharge their duties creditably and with no fear or favour for any of the candidates.
Speaking on behalf of the committees, Matthew Burka’a, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), promised that the two committees will carry out their assignments with a high sense of responsibility and will conduct a free, fair, credible and acceptable election that will set a template for future elections.
“We will approach this task with the seriousness it deserves. On behalf of all the members, I assure the NFF, football-loving Nigerians and the world at large that we are going to conduct a free, fair, credible and acceptable election.

“We are aware of the attention of the entire world, FIFA, CAF and the Nigerian football family on the task we have been saddled with. There is nothing to fear. We will work assiduously towards this election being the best-ever in the history of the Nigeria Football Federation,” Burka’a said.
The NFF boss had earlier announced Burka’a (SAN) alongside Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Alhaji Bature Musa, Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie and Honourable Akogun Olugbenga Omole as members of the Electoral Committee, with Arinze Azubuike Anughele and Abayomi Akin Omoyimi as alternate members.
For the Electoral Appeals Committee are Honourable Justice C. J. Aneke, Barrister Benjamin Sati and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal, with Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam as alternates.
Gusau also announced that in accordance with the provisions of the NFF Statutes, the NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, will serve as secretary to both committees.
The election has been scheduled to be held in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital, on Saturday, 26th September 2026.
The event was attended by the Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu; NFF 1st Vice President, Felix Anyansi-Agwu; NFF Executive Committee members, Silas Agara and Chief George Aluo; NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, among others.
