The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF ) has thrown its weight behind the forthcoming Oyo SWAN Sports Summit scheduled to hold at the D’Rovans Hotel, Ibadan on Wednesday.
In a message sent to the sports committee of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter, the first vice President of the federation Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi who also doubles as the South West coordinator of the federation believes the summit will bring about the desired results .
According to him there is need for such stakeholders/summit so as to address various issues facing the development of sport and suggest way forward.
He thus expressed hope that the Oyo Summit will worth the while participants to dwell more on the growth, sponsorship and infrastructural development in the state and urged other states to emulate Oyo SWAN in bringing about positive development to sport in their respective states.
He said,”I have no doubt in my mind that the summit will be a success going by the calibre of personnel expected and the foresight of the Niyi Alebiosu- led executive. In a gathering where you have Chief Taipei Ogunjobi,Chief Onigbinde,Waidi Ekun, Felix Owolabi, Dr Steve Olarinoye, among others, then you should know that serious business will be discussed and positive results are expected to come out of it,”he said.
Also speaking on the summit where issues relating to the current state of sport and marketing / sponsorship strategies will be discussed, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, chairman,Osun State Football Association, described the idea as a welcome one that will go a long way in reshaping the face of sport in the state and beyond.
Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, former Super Eagles handler also described the project as a good proposal while hoping to be part of the event.
At the summit, Oyo state’s commissioner for youth and sport, Barrister Yomi Oke, will present his blueprint for sport in the state while the chairman House committee in sport at the House of Assembly Hon Fatai Adesina Adeniyi will will deliver keynotes address.
Other dignitaries expected at the summit include the Oyo state governor, Sen.Abiola Ajimobi, the minister for youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, Rt.Honourable Micheal Adeyemo,Speaker ,Oyo State House of Assembly,,the chief of staff to the Oyo State governor,Dr Gbade Ojo, former commissioner for youth and sport in the state, Dapo Lam- Adesina,Farouk Alao, among others.
