President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Pinnick has promised that the football federation will make available $2.8milion to the Super Eagles by next month to put pressure on the team to win the 2018 World Cup.

Pinnick stated this on Friday during the flag off of the Odua Football League (OFL) and commissioning of the Western Nigeria Football Forum office situated at the Cocoa House Building, Ibadan.

“By the end of April, we want to give the Super Eagles $2.8million so that the pressure will be on them to win the World Cup and not on us. And that is it, we want to make sure that we go to the World Cup with no human error from the Nigeria Football Federation, and we are doing that,” Pinnick said.

“Our dream is there, purely and clearly, that is our dream. In Nigeria, it will outlive us in the next 10 years, and that is what you have started here today. In the next 10 years, we don’t want to say we are searching for a goalkeeper going to the World Cup when there is 1,001 keepers on our streets and everywhere. How do we start that? Grassroots administration, playing football and identifying them [talents], and connecting them to the highest level.

“Our house is focused, and what is the focus? It is to discover, nurture, prime and condition and ensures that a player becomes a great player, and that is our focus, it is a sole focus that we have in football.”
