NFF to vet future Super Eagles call-ups

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee will vet future call-ups to the national team in the wake of the embarrassing 2-0 loss to South Africa last weekend.

NFF chiefs are unhappy that manager Gernot Rohr did not field his strongest possible line-up against Bafana Bafana, with Chidozie Awaziem, who plays for the B Team of Porto, preferred ahead of the experienced Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo.

“Some of the undeserving players lined up against South Africa at the weekend would not have scaled the committee had this arrangement being in place,” a top official told SCORENigeria.

“Can you imagine a player from a ‘B’ team in Europe starting an official game for Nigeria in this day and age?”

When quizzed by the NFF technical committee, Rohr claimed the team lost because they didn’t train with the match ball, and they were missing some key players.
