A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has given educational empowerment worth 3,250,000 to 13 university undergraduates from Ezza North local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The NGO also kicked off its football tournament across the 11 wards of Ezza North council with 5,000,000 to promote unity, talent development, and youth engagement in the council Area.
Dr Divine Igwe, Founder of the non-profit organisation ‘Dr Divine Igwe Impact Foundation’, gave the cheque to the beneficiaries during the official lunch of the foundation held at Community Primary School, Okposi Umuoghara, Ezza North local government of Ebonyi State.
According to Igwe, the foundation was established to restore hope, uplift the vulnerable, and drive transformational development.
He noted further that the foundation will bring people together, partners, donors, volunteers, caregivers, and community members to create a better tomorrow.
“Our focus is to transform lives and strengthen communities through healthcare access, educational support, economic empowerment, and agricultural interventions that promote equity, inclusion, and sustainable development.
“We are guided by core values that define who we are and how we operate: Compassion – Because love for humanity drives every action.
“Integrity – Because transparency and accountability are the pillars of trust. Service – Because true leadership is measured by the lives we uplift. Equity – Because every individual deserves a fair chance. Sustainability – Because impact should endure beyond today,” he said.
He also emphasised that the foundation delivers free medical and surgical outreach programs, supports life-saving treatments and helps pregnant women access health insurance regardless of their status.
“Enrollment of 1,000 pregnant women to ensure safe maternal and newborn care. Sponsorship of free eye surgeries, hernia repairs, and fibroid surgeries for about 200 beneficiaries, and Enrollment of over 5,000 children into the state health insurance scheme.
“We offer scholarships, mentorship, and learning resources that help children and youth achieve their academic dreams and unlock their full potential. We have provided educational empowerment to 18 students in basic education. Sponsored one beneficiary for a Master’s degree programme. Supported the School of Nursing, Uburu, to strengthen quality training for healthcare professionals. Community Support & Welfare Paid house rent worth ₦1,000,000 for vulnerable individuals in need of shelter and stability,” he said.
Speaking on Community and Economic Empowerment, Igwe said, “We provide business grants, skill development, and capacity-building programs for women, widows, and young people, promoting self-reliance and economic growth.
“We support farmers with seeds, tools, training, and modern practices to boost productivity, strengthen food security, and expand economic opportunities for rural communities.
“On security, we supported the branding of police vans, contributing to improved visibility, mobility, and security operations.”
However, the chairman of the launch, Chief Oguzor Offia-Nwali, who is the commissioner of commerce and industry in the state, urged other big men and politicians to emulate the medical doctor for a better society, even as he encouraged the beneficiaries to be of good conduct.
In their different remarks, the chairman of the council, Chief Ogodo-Ali Nomeh and NUJ Ebonyi State chairman, Comrade Sampson Nwafor, commended the founder of the NGO for the support he has brought to sanitise the council from untimely death and social vices.
