Nicolas Jackson nightly impressed as Chelsea clinched a close 4-3 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion in a pre-season PL Summer Series Match on Sunday.
The Blues are now two from two in pre-season games with Brighton the latest addition to suffer defeat from the new-look Mauricio Pochettino’s team. The New Chelsea manager saw his side defeat the seagulls 4-3 in the first game of the Premier League Summer Series in Philadelphia with Christopher Nkunku and Conor Gallagher on the scoresheet, alongside Mykhailo Mudryk and Nicolas Jackson bagging a goal and two assists.
The Cameroon international starred throughout the match, assisting Mykhailo Mudryk’s first ever goal for Chelsea and also setting up Conor Gallagher’s second goal in his second pre-season appearance for Chelsea so far.
Brighton scored first from a corner as Chelsea responded quickly as Christopher Nkunku took advantage of a deflection. Both could’ve gotten a goal before the end of the half but lacked quality in the final third. The second half began as Mudryk and Jackson brilliantly combined for an outstanding volley by Mudryk.
Gallagher and Jackson scored the third and fourth respectively and João Pedro got a consolation from the Penalty spot as Levi Colwill gave a foul away in the 18 yard box. Brighton soon scored again after João Pedro set Undav up for a slam dunk kind of volley.
Jackson made his debut in Chelsea’s victory against Wrexham on Wednesday as he provided two assists. Coming into the game in the second half, he quickly set Mudryk up for a nicely volleyed goal with him and the Ukrainian winger connecting a number of times before the final whistle. He also assisted Gallagher’s goal minutes later after putting a pass through to the English midfielder for the third goal.
Jackson showed his class as a center-forward and as a team player throughout the game as the striker looks forward to winning more with Chelsea.
