The Nigeria International Energy Summit(NIES) Golf Tournament 2026 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at the TYB-IGRCC, Asokoro, Abuja.
The tournament, according to Lanre Bayewu, the CEOof Qubed LLC, in a WhatsApp chat with Sporting Tribune Saturday, is conceived as a high-level networking and relationship-building platform, bringing together senior government officials, industry leaders, policymakers, and key stakeholders across Nigeria’s energy value chain in a relaxed yet strategic setting.
He said that the tournament will feature six competitive categories: Nearest Pin (Ladies and Men), Longest Drive (Ladies and Men), Ladies Net (Winner and Runner-up), Men Net (Winner, Runner-up, and 3rd Place), Single Hole/Cocktail (Winner Ladies / Men), and Overall Best Gross and added that winners will receive trophies.

Bayewu said, “The tournament structure accommodates golfers of various skill levels and ensures broad participation from both energy industry professionals and the wider golfing community.
“The event will feature special guest appearances in the energy sector. Among the distinguished dignitaries expected to attend are the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobori; and the Minister of Power, Hon. Adelabu Adebayo.
“Additionally, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Patience Nwakuso Oyekunle, will be in attendance for the Ceremonial Tee-Off, symbolically reflecting the Federal Government’s continued support for collaboration, dialogue, and sustainable development within Nigeria’s oil, gas, and broader energy sectors.
“This tournament represents a strategic initiative to project Nigeria’s energy sector onto both global and sporting stages as a key sector in the nation’s economic development.
“The event creates networking opportunities and strengthens professional relationships within the energy community.”
