Atsu said Cross River State is set to provide 400 athletes to participate in 17 sports events at the festival, which will take place in Uyo Town, Akwa Ibom, over a span of nine days.

Hon. Atsu emphasized the importance of playing by the rules while encouraging athletes to be bold in their performances for effective results and better representation of the state.

She also mentioned that the event tends to nurture athletes, helping them achieve gainful professional careers in sports, and fostering self-reliance and economic independence.

Additionally, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports Development, Hon. Ekanem Ekpenyong, highlighted the growing involvement of parents in supporting their children’s athletic endeavours, contrasting it with previous attitudes that were less encouraging.
