Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Desmond Enebulele, will on Monday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium receive unity torch for the forthcoming Niger-Delta Sports Festival on behalf of the state government.
According to the Director, Sports Development and Operations, Mrs. Sabina Chikere, athletes and coaches as well as members of staff of the Sports Commission are expected to assemble at the stadium by 8: 00 am to join Enabulele to welcome the torch bearers.

Chikere said: “The Executive Chairman on receiving the festival torch, will immediately lead the team of sports men and women to the Government House where they will hand it over to the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.”
The festival torch was lit in a colourful ceremony at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on March 21, 2025.
The Niger Delta Sports Festival, scheduled to hold in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from April 1st to 8th, 2025
is a project funded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to harness sports talents in the nine mandate states.
The festival holds from April 1- 8 in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
About 3,000 athletes and 500 coaches are expected to take part in the festival.
