Nigeria judokas set for Africa Judo Championship

Arrangements have been concluded by the Nigeria Judo Federation (NJF) to be present at the Africa Judo Championship will hold between April 25th -28th in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.

President of the Nigeria Judo Federation, Dr Musa Oshodi in a statement, signed and made available to Sporting Tribune read in part,”Nwigeria Judo Federation (NJF) in the quest to present a team in the next Olympic Games has decided to commence early preparation as this is one of the resourceful ways enough points could be secured to qualify for the games.

“To this end, I am pleased to inform the Nigerian sports family and the general public at large that the country will present a team at the Africa Judo Championships hoiding from April 25 to 28, 2025 in Abidjan, Cote D’ ivoire.

“Presently, twelve athletes (12) and four (4) officials are in camp at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – ife, Osun state.

“The team will depart the country for the Championships on the 22nd and return on April 29.”

Oshodi, therefore, is using this forum to solicit for the support of well-meaning Nigerians, sports philanthropists, and corporate and social organisations as the Federation pursues this “worthwhile project.”

The NJF boss added that,”the Federation has also concluded arrangements to stage a Refeering seminar from April 30 to May 4th, 2025, at two different center;Northern conferênce, this will hold at the MKO stadium in Abuja and the Southern conference will hold at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile – Ife,Osun State saying that.”

This efforts will go a long way to keep our referees and coaches abreast of the current officiating trends in the world of Judo.

The seminar is mandatory as it will be used to re – assess and re – evaluate the coaches and the referees in the country towards updating their status and ensuring future involvement in the Federation’s activities?he concluded.
