MFM way behind Champions League standard ―Ilechukwu

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has said he is far from happy with the quality of his new signings and the preparations ahead of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC debut in next year’s CAF Champions League.

Ilechukwu made history by leading MFM to finish as runners-up in the NPFL last season and he is now expected to lead the Lagos club for international glory next year.

But he has now admitted that, “I am very worried” and added MFM FC will find it tough on the continent.

He said: “As it stands, I am very worried because I know what we have and I have followed the CAF Champions League, I saw the pace, I saw the reactions and the quality of the players, the intensity and some other things I saw in CAF Champions League and with that, MFM need to do more to be able to meet up with the standards.

“First of all, I have to thank Dr. Olukoya (MFM General Overseer) for giving me the opportunity to coach the team, for now all that I can tell you is that MFM is 30% ready because we just want to start our pre-season training, so I am not happy about the situation, but at the same time we just want to make use of what we have.

“I know MFM will find it difficult this time around because I have not got what I want as a coach. I believe we are supposed to get a couple of players, but we couldn’t.

“The only thing we can do is to still go back to the grassroots and still search again.

“I am not happy with condition I have found myself and the team now because I expect to get a better plan for the team but now there is nothing we can do,” Ilechukwu told SCORENigeria.
