Nigeria to host inaugural Phygital Championship in pursuit of Games of the Future 2025

The Phygital Nigeria community is encouraging active participation by stakeholders and partners in the upcoming championships, assuring a dynamic fusion of athleticism, gaming expertise, and sportsmanship.

The call was contained in a statement issued by the association through Infinity Citizens Ltd, made available to journalists in Bauchi on Thursday.

The statement contained that Stakeholders can expect an unmatched phygital experience brimming with unparalleled excitement, skill, and innovation, elevating Nigeria’s presence on the global phygital stage.

Infinity Citizens Ltd. becomes an official member of the World Phygital Community WPC – Games of the Future, a milestone achievement which marks a significant step forward in the integration of physical and digital sports in Nigeria.

The statement further contained that, “As a member of the prestigious World Phygital Community (WPC), Infinity Citizens Ltd. is proud to unveil the inaugural Phygital Nigeria Championship Tournament, scheduled to take place on January 25, 2025, at the Ivory Health Club Lagos, Nigeria.

“This groundbreaking event will feature 16 teams competing in the unique football discipline, featuring a hybrid of physical sports and the digital world known as ‘Phygital’, aiming for a chance to represent Nigeria at the esteemed Games of the Future 2025 in Dubai, UAE.”

The Phygital Nigeria Championship, overseen by the World Phygital Community (WPC), will centre on the sports discipline of Phygital football, hosting 16 carefully selected teams.

Phygital football combines a 5v5 soccer match with a PlayStation 5 football simulation, a thrilling two-stage soccer competition that will test the player’s skills on and off the pitch, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for participants and spectators alike.

Infinity Citizens Ltd. CEO Jeremiah Oluwaseun Adeniran expressed his admiration for the innovative idea of phygital sports and encouraged gamers, sports enthusiasts and stakeholders to embrace this revolutionary fusion of physical and digital sports.

In this thrilling opportunity, winners of the championship will earn the esteemed privilege of representing Nigeria on the global platform in UAE Dubai, showcasing the nation’s exceptional talent within the realm of phygital football.
