Troost-Ekong
Turkey-based defender, William Troost-Ekong, says he has been massively rewarded by his decision to play for Nigeria.
Troost-Ekong holds a dual citizenship of Nigeria and Holland, having been born in Holland but opted to play international football for Nigeria.
“I am proud I have a lot to point to as a Nigerian international. Last year, I was at the Olympics in Brazil and next year I will be with the Eagles in Russia. If you look at how young I am, then you would say I am that lucky, my star shines with Nigeria’’
The defender added that just like he grabbed bronze medal at the Rio Olympics, the Eagles would not be going to Russia to make up the numbers.
‘’We go into games full of confidence, that is the secret of the Eagles. We are a total team, we don’t get distracted and we know when we are not doing well on the pitch. We do not expect the coaches to yell at us before we wake up. Being with Nigeria is the best choice I have made in my career,” he stated.
