The duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Ogenekaro Etebo have been ruled out of the pre-World Cup friendly against Serbia today at The HIVE Barnet Stadium, London.
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, while speaking at the team’s media conference on Monday at the Barnet Stadium, disclosed that Iheanacho has fracture on his finger while Etebo was asked to stay off until after tonight’s match.
Speaking further, the Franco-German said there were many equally reliable players in camp, adding that he hopes for the best in today’s match, but warned that it will not be easy match.
The coach, who commended the players for being committed to national duties, said they are dedicating the Serbia match to recuperating Carl Ikeme, who they visited on Monday.
Rohr added that they had wished Ikeme could watch today’s match, but this is not likely because he is being attended to at the hospital.
“We want to win like every other team, but it’s not going to be easy, though I am more concerned about results, I want to give more players playing time so that we can have a solid team,” Rohr said.
