Coach Bala Nikyu, who guided Nigeria’s Flamingoes to the U17 Women’s World Cup a month ago, has returned to Wikki Tourists to assist Mohammed Babaganaru.
He was considered ahead of Mansur Abdullahi and Bernard Ogbe.
Nikyu said: “It is a familiar ground. I am used to Bauchi as I have worked there previously and so going back there is like visiting Kafanchan local government, where I am from.
“I pray to contribute positively to see how we can improve on the great work coach Abdul Maikaba has done at the club.”
He was at Wikki in 2007 when he assisted coach Ladan Bosso and was really in charge of that team as Bosso was mostly on national assignment with the U20 team.
Nikyu was also coach ofSEC FC from 2003 to 2005, where he took the Abuja club to the quarterfinal of Federation Cup.
He guided Nasarawa United to the NPFL and has previously handled Niger Tornadoes and Plateau United.
Meanwhile, Crown FC of Ogbomoso striker, Peter Godly Michael has agreed personal terms to join Rivers United ahead of IfeanyiUbah.
Michael was Crown’s destroyer of Rangers in this year’s Federation Cup.
He showed class in a recent talent hunt in Abuja organised by Norway-based Atta Aneke, scoring in both matches he played.
A top official of Rivers United revealed the striker has agreed to join the Port Harcourt and that was why they have now applied for an entry visa to Spain, where the club will travel to for a training tour.
“What only remains now is for him to sign a contract with us,” said the official.
Michael is one of 16 new players Rivers United plan to sign for the new season.
