The Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu, has promised to deliver on his mandate to reposition the Institute in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Shaibu, who is the immediate past Deputy Governor of Edo State stated this during a thanksgiving service held at Saint Paul Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City on Sunday and attended by notable dignitaries including the incumbent Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa, former Chief of Staff to the Edo State Government, Honourable Taiwo Akerele, member representing Akoko-Edo Constituency II, Honorable Donald Okogbe and many others.
The DG, who thanked President Tinubu for entrusting him with the responsibility of reforming and rebranding the NIS, assured that he would make the President proud by delivering on his mandate of transforming the Institute to international standard and in line with international best practices.

Describing his appointment as a divine favour, the NIS DG pledged to always be good ambassador of Edo State by working tirelessly to promote the state’s interests.
The Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Idahosa, congratulated Shaibu on his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver on his mandate.
The thanksgiving train later moved to Shaibu’s Adeyan Avenue’s residence where friends and well-wishers gathered to celebrate his (DG) appointment.
