Super Eagles’ chief coach, Salisu Yusuf, has said that no player is irreplacable, adding that there is no need to panic over the recent injury of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme.
In an exclusive interview with AOIfootball.com, Yusuf played down the overdependence on an individual player.
“My belief is that nobody is irreplacable. Anybody that followed me during my days in Kano Pillars knows that I used to bench my best players sometimes and still get results; it all depends on your mental strength as a coach to be able to psyche your players to give you what you want.
“You cannot say because one player is injured, it is all over. Somebody must play and somebody must deliver.”
“For me, injury is part of the game and disappointment is part of life; you are here now and tomorrow you are not there, so it is not about the choice of goalkeepers we use to call up because I think we call up the best, ” concluded Yusuf.
