No forgiveness for Ronaldo: five-match ban remains

The Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) has decided to uphold the five-match suspension handed to Cristiano Ronaldo after being sent off in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa.

Cristiano Ronaldo was handed a five-match ban by the Commitee for competition: one for the red card he was brandished for alleged simulation and four for pushing referee De Burgos from behind.

The TAD explained: ‘The slight push which the official refers to is ratified by the video footage’. For that reason, TAD believe Cristiano Ronaldo should serve the corresponding ban.

Real Madrid made their feelings of injustice public. The striker missed the Supercopa return fixture and the La Liga opener against Deportivo. He will be sidelined for a further three matches.

With this decision made by the TAD, Ronaldo will have to watch the clashes with Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad from the stands.
