No money missing in our secretariat ―NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday declared that there was no money missing from its secretariat.

An online report had reported that $40,000 was stolen from the Glass House secretariat of the country’s football-governing body in Abuja.

The report stated that the money was allegedly stolen by a female intern, who was said to be a younger sister to a former president of the federation, at the NFF.

It added that the money was supposed to be used by the national U-17 women’s team, the Flamingoes, to prosecute their Uruguay 2018 U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on Sunday in Ethiopia.

Reacting to this in a telephone chat with Tribunesport, NFF’s Director, Communications, Ademola Olajire, declared that there was nothing like missing $40,000 at the NFF.

Olajire stated that the Flamingoes left Abuja on Thursday afternoon for Ethiopia to honour their World Cup qualifier, wondering how the team could have left for the East African country if the money they supposed to use for the match was stolen.

“There is nothing like that. The team that has left this [Thursday] afternoon,” Olajire, who expressed surprise over the report, stated.

According to him, “how could they (Flamingoes) have left for Ethiopia if the money they are to use is missing? The team left this afternoon and they are playing the match on Sunday.

“There is no money missing anywhere.”
