NPFL clubs hustling to boost profile ― Owolabi

As the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) enters the Match Day 8, clubs have been striving to pick up points in order to boost their profile on the log of the ongoing 2016/2017 season.

A former Green Eagles player, Felix Owolabi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos, that clubs are currently striving to acquire points before fatigue sets in.

“The typical Nigerian league when they start like this, you begin to see teams trying to struggle to pick points, either at home or at away.

“There is a reason for that it is because at that time, that is when everybody is very, very serious, everybody wants to look at the league to see how it is up to.

“The moment it gets to the 10th week, it’s a different ballgame, and that is why you see some clubs like Plateau United picking points at random.

“Winning at home drawing at away, when it comes to the 10th week, it’s a different ball game then you begin to see some messy areas in our league.

NAN reports that Plateau United of Jos is currently topping the league’s log with 13 points from eight matches played clubs.
