President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, on Thursday in Abuja inaugurated the Referees’ and the Match Commissioners’Committees calling on them to make sure that the match officials handle the matches in the league professionally and take Nigerian football to its desired heights.
While thanking the committees headed by Mrs. Faith Irabor and Alhaji Babagana Kali respectively for accepting to serve, Gusau said the NFF took its time to come up with people of character and integrity known to the football body and on merit.
According to Gusau, NFF will rely on the committees for fair officiating and smooth running of the league.

“I want to thank you for accepting to serve on the committees. We took our time to come out with people who are known to us and they are selected on merit. They are people of character and integrity. Under my watch, we will make sure you make proper appointments and we will make the environment conducive for you.
“We are making everything possible to make sure that we make prompt payment of the match officials as well as their allowances. The referees that will officiate in the league must have passed through you and we want them to know that we won’t allow any form of sabotage. I will not condone any form of indiscipline or anything that will bring the game into disrepute. We really want to change our football and do what is right because very soon, a lot of us will smile,” Gusau said.
The head of the committees, in their remarks, thanked the NFF president for the appointment while assuring him that he will not regret picking them.
