NPFL: SWAN hails Kun Khalifat FC for qualification

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State chapter, has congratulated Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri on their remarkable qualification for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Kun Khalifat FC braved the odds to record two wins against Crown FC (1-0) and Osun United (2-1) out of three games to record their historic NPFL ticket at the first time of asking.

This follows the team’s accelerated promotions from the NLO, NNL, and now NPFL, all coming within less than two years.

Imo SWAN in a press statement jointly issued by the Chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka and Secretary, Tunde Liadi emphasised that Kun Khalifat FC finishing second in Group B with six points, tied with group leaders Warri Wolves but separated only by goal difference, is a testament to the hard work, discipline, and resilience displayed by the team throughout the campaign.

The body said that the Association is immensely proud of this historic achievement and commends the players, coaching crew, management led by club owner, Michael Chukwudi Amaefula, and supporters of Kun Khalifat FC for making Imo State proud in Asaba, Delta State.

SWAN advised them to step into the elite division of Nigerian football with a high level of focus and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence.

The body expressed optimism that the club has what it takes not just to compete but to make a strong impact in the NPFL.

They said: “Once again, congratulations to Kun Khalifat FC. We wish you continued success and an outstanding representation of Imo State on the national stage.
