General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Mr Rasheed Balogun has commended the players of the team’s U-15 side for their impressive performance in the ongoing NPFL U-15 Promises tournament holding at the Osogbo City Stadium.
Goals from Opoola Malik and Gbolahan Salami ensured that the Oluyole Starlets hammered Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC of Ilorin 2-0 in a group C match on Wednesday, while the Ibadan lads yesterday settled for a 1-1 draw with MFM FC of Lagos to remain on top of the group with seven points.
The 3SC starlets are on course to pick one of the tickets from the zone as they play their last group game today against Sunshine Stars of Akure.
Balogun, who watched the game against ABS alongside some faithful of the club, said he was pleased with the fighting spirit demonstrated by the coach Monday Ozibe-tutored lads.
He charged the 3SC youngsters not to rest on their oars but strive to secure the ticket to the next round.
“You have really done well and I must commend you for being good ambassadors of Oyo state, but the people back home are expecting more from you and that is why I want to enjoin you to do everything humanly possible to top the group and qualify for the next stage of the competition,” Balogun told the players.
Meanwhile, Hassan Olubode of 3SC, who remains the only player to have scored a hat-trick in the Osogbo centre, is the joint leading scorer with four goals.
