NUGA 2017 Games end today

THE 25th Nigerian University Games (NUGA) Games end today at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM) sports complex.

At the time of this report, University of Port Harcourt were leading the medals’ chart and look good to emerge winners of the Games.

Meanwhile, the highlight of today’s closing ceremonies would no doubt be the football final between the hosts, UAM and University of Ilorin, at the main bowl of the UAM sports complex.

The UAM lads beat Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi 3-2 in the semi-final, while Unilorin team triumphed over Delta State University, Abraka 1-0 to book a showdown with the hosts over who wins the soccer gold.

In the hockey final, the age-long rivalry between Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife who are also defending champions and University of Maidugiri will be renewed, as University of Benin face University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) team in the female hockey final.

To reach the final stage, OAU defeated Federal University of Technology, Minna 2-0, while UNIMAID beat University of Nigeria 1-0.
