Nwabouku dropped, Oshoala makes Africa Women’s Cup of Nations squad

The Super Falcons have named a strong squad for the continental women’s football championship which kicks off on November 20

Nigeria senior women coach Florence Omagbemi has announced her squad to represent the country at this month’s  African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon .

The final team list is made up of three goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders and seven strikers comprising of 11 foreign-based and 10 home-based players.

Super Falcons captain, Evelyn Nwabouku will miss the continental showpiece due to injury,.

The country’s delegation of 21 players and officials led by head coach will fly out of the country on Wednesday morning.

Nigeria face Mali on November 20 at the Stade Municipal de Limbe, Limbe before matches against Ghana and Kenya respectively in the group phase.

 

FULL SQUAD

Goalkeepers: Alaba Jonathan, Rita Akarekor, Ibubuleye Whyte.

Defenders: Ugo Njoku, Onome Ebi, Faith Ikidi, Ohale Osinachi, Ebere Ngozi, Gladys Akpa.

Midfielders: Osas Igbinovia, Ngozi Okobi, Halimatu Ayinde, Glory Iroka, Rita Chikwelu.

Forwards: Desire Oparanozie, Francisca Ordega, Esther Sunday, Uchechi Sunday, Asisat Oshoala, Chioma Wogu, Ijeoma Obi.
