Former Green Eagles captain, Segun Odegbami has been appointed as the grand sports ambassador for the 22nd Edition of the National Sports Festival tagged Gateways Games.
The appointment was announced Tuesday at the Olusegun Osoba press centre of Governor’s office, Abeokuta during the press parley .The Governor had had earlier announced the appointment of Commonwealth Gold medalistTobi Amusan and Anthony Joshua as NSF ambassadors.
Governor Abiodun who presented the certificate appointment to the former IICC top striker Odegbami as the state grand ambassador expressed the readiness editors about the readiness of the state to host the 22nd National Sports Festival.

“Permit me to use this opportunity to perform this ceremony of unveiling Chief Segun Odegbami as our grand sports ambassador.And this is the first time in the history of the Festival that we are having Grand Sports Ambassador “
“The National Sports Festival will come and go but we’re already thinking of leveraging on the gains that will come from hosting the NSF.
“That’s where Odegbami will come in to help us maximize the sports economy.
“He had already given us the template of the Amsterdam Arena which we intend to replicate at the MKO Abiola Stadium”
Responding,Odegbami expressed shock at the appointment saying”I only came here on the invitation of the Governor not knowing He has planned for me but then this is a great honour for me coming from my homestead and my sports loving Governor and I want you all to help me thank him for this honour and I can assure u all that the state will host a superlative festival “,Odegbami said.
