The season is upon us again; and the excitements are back with it – so also is my predictions blog. I will be sharing – as usual, my predictions and views for matches to be played every Match Day. Welcome on board!
ARSENAL V LEICESTER CITY
Aside the fact – this match is set to be the league’s curtain-raiser, this fixture promises to be exciting. As we are set to see too attacking sides lock horns at the Emirates. But IÂ just see Arsenal clinching all 3 points – which would make them the first team to win a league match this season. Though the win won’t come without a tough fight from Craig Shakespeare and his wards.
MY PREDICTION: Arsenal 2-1 Leicester
WATFORD V LIVERPOOL
Marco Silva gave a good impression of himself and the stuff he is made of – with Hull City last season – despite Hull’s relegation – earning him the Watford job. So I see him setting his side out to give Liverpool problems in this one. Klopp haven’t fixed his team’s defensive loopholes just yet – so I see them struggling defensively at Watford.
MY PREDICTION: Watford 2-2 Liverpool
CHELSEA V BURNLEY
This sort of games at the Bridge were easy pickings for Conte and his charges last season. But it’s hard to tell if it will remain so this time around. Though, I still see Chelsea winning here.
MY PREDICTION: Chelsea 2-0 Watford
CRYSTAL PALACE V HUDDERSFIELD
Frank de Boer will be tasting life in the Premier League for the first time, but, so are Huddersfield Town – who haven’t played in the Premier League – but last played top division football 45 years ago. So it will be interesting to see how this two match each other. But with Crystal Palace not new to the league – I see the London club snatching all 3 points.
MY PREDICTION: Crystal Palace 1-0 Huddersfield
EVERTON V STOKE CITY
Everyone will be anxious to see how the enormous signings made at Everton gel this season – beginning with this fixture. I expect the players to flourish in front of their home fans, though.
MY PREDICTION: Everton 2-0 Stoke City
SOUTHAMPTON V SWANSEA
Southampton have a new manager in Mauricio Pellegrino and it will be interesting to see how he set his side out against a Swansea side that are now accustomed to Paul Clement’s style and philosophy – after the Englishman joined the club January last season. I see this game ending in stalemate.
MY PREDICTION: Southampton 0-0 Swansea
WEST BROM V BOURNEMOUTH
This clash is going to be intriguing, and I expect the fans to leave the stadium happy they experienced quality football. But Tony Pulis should prove too smart for Eddie Howe here.
MY PREDICTION: West Brom 2-1 Bournemouth
BRIGHTON V MANCITY
If Guardiola wants to make an early impression of his team’s title ambition, then they should be blowing this sort of team away. And the title winner would be decided by the ruthlessness of the bigger teams against the smaller teams. So I see Man City triumphing in this one emphatically.
MY PREDICTION: Brighton 1-3 Man City
NEWCASTLE V SPURS
Another explosive fixture to watch out for -as this two exciting sides tackle each other. Would be interesting to see how Newcastle try to tame the many qualities in this Spurs side. Difficult to call though, but I see Spurs nicking this one by the skin of their teeth.
MY PREDICTION: Newcastle 1-2 Spurs
MANUTD V WEST HAM
After their defeat to Real Madrid in the Super Cup, I expect Jose Mourinho’s side to try appease the fans at Old Trafford – with a win against an improved West Ham side. Manutd’s undoing last season was their inability to kill killable – games. But with the acquisition of Lukaku, I expect that to change – and the change has to start with them showing their superiority over the Hammers in this one.
MY PREDICTION: Manutd 2-0 West Ham
As we head into the season, I am tipping Man City to win the League: Jose Mourinho’s ability to shine in his second season at clubs he has managed – haven’t been helped by Manutd’s inability to secure the Portuguese a proper winger – that would supplement the quality signings he has made this season. Else, I had tip Manutd for the title.
