Shocking draws at Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs ensured I called only four correct results from last week; including calling the correct score in the Huddersfield against Leicester game. Bar any shocking result, here’s how I expect this week’s fixtures to pan out.
WEST HAM V SPURS
Having played their first three league matches away from home; and losing all three, West Ham haven’t lost any of their last three at home in all competitions – thrashing Bolton 3-0 there in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Spurs who drew at home against Swansea last week; perform better away from home so far this season. This game is going to be interesting to see. I just feel Spurs will either win or draw at West Ham.
MY PREDICTION: West Ham 1-2 Spurs
BURNLEY V HUDDERSFIELD
Burnley seem to struggle playing at home his season, having taken just one win from their three fixtures at home in all competitions – so far this season. But they have won at Chelsea, drawn at Spurs and at Liverpool in the league so far. With Burnley drawing at the Turf Moor against Championship’s Leeds United in their cup game on Tuesday: a game The Whites went on to win 5-3 on penalties – knocking Sean Dyche and his men out in the process, Huddersfield should exploit Burnley’s weaknesses at home and get something from this.
MY PREDICTION: Burnley 1-1 Huddersfield
EVERTON V BOURNEMOUTH
Everton haven’t been convincing this season, despite their heavy spending in the Summer. But you have to consider their league opponents(Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Man Utd) since their opening day 1-0 win at home against Stoke City.
Bournemouth are definitely going to shape out in a system that will cause Everton problems.
Having defeated Sunderland 3-0 in the Carabao cup in midweek, I fancy Ronald Koeman and his men to build on that, and have too much for Bournemouth in this one.
MY PREDICTION: Everton 2-0 Bournemouth
MAN CITY V CRYSTAL PALACE
City have scored eleven league goals in their last two games, that’s abandoning their 4 against Feyenoord in the Champions League and 2 at West Brom in midweek. They are flying at the moment. And it would take more than the one goal Palace scored in midweek against Huddersfield to distort City’s form at the moment.
MY PREDICTION: Man City 3-1 Crystal Palace
SOUTHAMPTON V MAN UTD
Southampton haven’t been convincing at home this season: winning, drawing and losing all of their three league fixtures at home. Meanwhile, United have only drawn at Stoke this season: winning all of their matches in all competitions so far in the season. It’s either United win or draw here. But I must pick a result: so am going with a slim United win here.
MY PREDICTION: Southampton 1-2 Man Utd
STOKE V CHELSEA
Stoke have remained Stoke so far in the season: making home a fortress as they always do. But Chelsea are a side that can alter that norm on their day. It would be a difficult match for both sides nevertheless. I fancy a draw here, though.
MY PREDICTION: Stoke 1-1 Chelsea
SWANSEA V WATFORD
All of Swansea’s league defeats this campaign have happened at their stadium. Meanwhile, all of Watford’s league wins this season have happened away from home. Quite ironic that.
This should end in stalemate from all indications.
MY PREDICTION: Swansea 0-0 Watford
LEICESTER V LIVERPOOL
Having defeated Liverpool in midweek in the Carabao Cup, Leicester would be looking to have one over Liverpool in the league once more. With Liverpool refusing to win any match since the turn of September, and their talismanic Sadio Mane still out to suspension, Craig Shakespeare would be hoping for a similar result from midweek in this one.
MY PREDICTION: Leicester 2-1 Liverpool
BRIGHTON V NEWCASTLE
Brighton would be hoping their superior head to head record come to the fore in this one. But with Newcastle currently experiencing purple-patch, this might produce something different from what The Seagulls’ fans would expect.
MY PREDICTION: Brighton 1-1 Newcastle
ARSENAL V WEST BROM
Arsenal have produced some fascinating results since their 4-0 humiliating defeat at Liverpool last month. Meanwhile, West Brom have been disappointing recently. Everything here points to an Arsenal win.
MY PREDICTION: Arsenal 2-0 West Brom
