Ogun govt assures readiness for National Sports Festival

The Ogun State Government has assured Nigerians of its preparedness to host the upcoming National Sports Festival, as it welcomed a team of sports editors to Abeokuta for a guided tour of facilities.

The Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon Wasiu Isiaka led the editors around major sporting venues across the city on Thursday, giving them a firsthand view of the state’s infrastructural readiness.

He affirmed that nearly all facilities are completed, with the few remaining undergoing final touches and scheduled to be ready before the festival gets underway.

“We are fully prepared. The facilities speak for themselves. We are working round the clock to ensure every necessary structure is in place. By the time the games begin, Ogun State will be more than ready,” Isiaka said during the tour.

The inspection included the MKO Abiola International Stadium where the opening and closing ceremony, football, Tennis and Swimming events will take place, as well as the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja.

The visit was part of the state’s broader efforts to showcase transparency and build public confidence ahead of the prestigious sporting event, which brings together athletes from all parts of Nigeria.

Ogun State last hosted the National Sports Festival in 2006. With this year’s edition fast approaching, the state government is determined to leave a lasting impression by delivering a well-organised and memorable festival.
