Ogun govt thrilled to host athletics championship — Gov Abiodun’s aide

Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Youth Development, Comrade Olamide Lawal, extended a warm welcome to the athletes from across Africa participating in the Confederation of the U-18/20 African Athletics Championship scheduled to take place in the state.

The prestigious event brings together 700 young athletes from various African countries to compete and showcase their talents.

In an exclusive interview, Lawal expressed his excitement about the championship, highlighting the significance of such events in promoting sports development in the state.

“We are thrilled to host this championship, which will undoubtedly bring together the best young athletes from Africa. This is a testament to our Governor’s commitment to promoting sports development in Ogun State,” he said.

Lawal also commended the Governor of Ogun State for his unwavering support for sports development in the state.

He said, “His Excellency’s vision for a thriving sports sector is evident in the investments made in our sports infrastructure. We are grateful for his leadership and commitment to nurture young talents in the state.”

Lawal who doubles as the National President of the APC Youth League praised the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, for his incessant outstanding leadership in directing the affairs of the nation’s sports activities and maximizing our state’s sports facilities.

“Under his watch, our sporting activities have tripled and facilities have undergone significant transformations, providing a conducive environment for athletes to train and compete. We appreciate his dedication and hard work in ensuring the success of sports development in Ogun State,” Lawal noted

Lawal wished the participating athletes the best of luck, urging them to showcase their skills with the spirit of sportsmanship.

“We are confident that this championship will be a resounding success, and we look forward to witnessing the emergence of new stars in African athletics,” Lawal concluded.
